The A.M. Foster Bridge is a privately-owned bridge designed to be an exact replica of the Martin Bridge located in Marshfield. The Foster bridge sits on an unencumbered hill in Cabot, without the usual power lines and poles to obstruct the surroundings.
The Perseid meteor shower is visible from mid-July each year, with peak activity around mid-August, depending on location. I took this photo of the Milky Way and Perseids in mid-August from the A.M. Foster Bridge in Cabot.
Meteors can be green, blue, yellow, or red. As a meteor enters Earth's atmosphere, it is heated to the point where its outer layer is vaporized. The metals in the meteor glow with particular colors -- green comes from nickel. The glow tends to be brightest when the meteor hits the atmosphere at high speed. Very bright meteors can actually emit a hissing sound as they enter our atmosphere.
This image is a composite. The bridge and foreground were shot at dusk. The Milky Way was photographed later in the night, and the Perseid meteors were captured over a two-hour span. The various frames were blended in post-processing to yield this image. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
